So the past few weeks have been full of family reunions. The first one we went to was for my mother's side of the family. We went up to Preston, Idaho and hung out in part of my old stomping grounds. And no I don't know Napoleon Dynamite... anyways, so when we got there we jumped right in and began to eat really yummy food. I tried to introduce Doug to some of my relatives, but a good chunk of the people there I had not idea who they were. but they sure knew who I was. People kept coming up to me and asking if I was April's daughter. (My mom). I of course said I was and then they would tell me stories of how they knew me. It was kind fun to see cousins and catch up on all the years.
Brooklyn, Bobbie and I hanging out and enjoying the really yummy food. I am so glad that my dear hubby was there because I didn't even think to pick up the camera. But Doug was all over it making sure to catch part of the fun. Funny thing is most of the photos of Bobbie and I are when her mouth is full of food. Sorry Bobbie! haha
So while were were there Brooklyn was having a hard time with the heart and all the new faces. She was sort of stuck to mommy mode. But of course when aunt Clarice (who Brooklyn Clarice Yearsley is named after!) wanted to hold her she was all smiles and calm. I felt bad because some of the other aunts of cousins came over to hold her and meet her and she would throw a fit. But of course not when Aunt C came over!
The girls just hanging out and enjoying the family time!
While we were there we got to hear a lot of fun stories that my relatives told. One of them was about a little Indian boy who was barried up in the old cemetery. It was a story that was passed down from when they first settled the Riverdale area. I so remember going up to the cemetery to see my grandma's grave and seeing the "little Indian boy" grave stone and wondering what the story was behind that. well nearly 10 years later I now know the story.
Still hanging out having fun.
Uncle Stan was the auction guy during the family reunion. Of course all my aunts had to have a front row seat so they could tell him how to do the auction the right way. It is so much fun to just sit and watch how they all act. There is never a dull moment when you are with the Packer family! haha
Well it was so much fun to hang out with everyone and I can't wait to go do it again. Thanks everyone for the wonderful memories!
I hope all is great in your neck of the woods!
