Update on the remodel

Hey everyone,
So along with the nesting that has begun, my dear hubby and I have taken to trying to get the kitchen some what redone. We have tossed the idea around on getting new cupboards or just repainting them. In the long run it was so much cheaper to just repaint them and call it good. So here is what it originally started out as:

The kitchen started out as a off white and brown on the upper part of the wall.

This is the view of the before dinning area too. It was all off white also. We still haven't switched out the flooring yet, but that is on the list of wants to do.

So I had this fun idea after I stumbled upon a house magazine. I am not usually into the whole "bold" idea but this time Doug really went with it and so here is what we decided on.

The top cupboards are a green and the bottoms are a dark blue. It really makes the counter tops pop out at ya. It also gave it more of a clean look to it, instead of the yucky off white.

This view is looking into the kitchen area. We took a few days to get all the cupboards done, but it was so worth all the work. While we were at it we also repainted the trim in all of the kitchen, dining area too.

This is the lucky guy who got to do a lot of the work!. Can't you tell how excited he is when his wife gets an itching to update or re due part of the house!!

So we decided to repaint the ceilings of both the kitchen and dining area. This is my very skilled hubby doing just that. As you can tell I had a few decisions to make on the color of the walls. We chose to go with a light gray.

Finished product of the dining room. We even found a steal of a deal on a new light too! We haven't found the right curtains for the big sliding glass doors, so that is still in the works.

Since we were painting we also decided to go down the hall and repaint the brown so it matched the rest of the kitchen too.

Here is the end result of the hall way. We did also change out the lighting in that area too.

So we are slowly making the house more of what we want, but it is taking us a while. We did all this in a 3-4 month period. I am really itching to do my laundry room too, but Doug has put his foot down and said I have to wait until after the baby comes.... we will see about that. haha

Well I hope all is great in your neck of the woods!
