My dear hubby failed to inform me that it was still to cold for the chickens to live outside.. So those cute little things ended up in a huge bin/bucket in my laundry room. It was cute and fun until they began to stink it up terrible... UGH!! the life of a part-time farmer. hehe
This is Doug and I chilling with our chicks and ducks in our small laundry room!
Me with our two little ducks... "Jake and Jill". They are so cute and fuzzy feathered right now!
The two ducks loved to come sit on Doug's hands and legs. Random... But so funny to see them push each other around to get a spot on Doug's hand.
This is our little chicks and ducks on their first night.
So the ducks and chicks started out in one bin together, but we found that we were cleaning the bucket nearly 15 times a day because the ducks would drain the water container and play in the muck. Yeah the poor little chicks were drenched from peak to toe. So we separated them and the chicks dried out and the ducks enjoyed their big bin of water by themselves.
*Flashing forward two months ( today)*
The ducks are huge now and the chicks are large and annoying. We finally moved them out into the barn and they are big animals now. The ducks are back in with the chickens, but the ducks don't splash their water all over to much now. They just jump in and chill. We have added two laying hens to the crew and four more little laying chicks also. We found out the four white chicks we bought at first were ment for meat and not laying eggs. OOps, so we found that it would be smart to get ones that actually lay eggs.
That is our little part-time farm! I hope all is great in your neck of the woods!

Haha. This reminds me of Joey and Chandler on "Friends." Only time I've ever actually wanted a pet was when I saw their chick and duck. Thanks for educating me otherwise. :-)
