2013 Yearsley Family Reunion

Ok, I am nearly caught up on my blog postings. This was our latest adventure. We have an annual Yearsley family reunion. This year was my year to plan it. Doug and I came up with a theme for it:
" Got a Minute?" We based it off of the Minute to Win it game show. We searched for some really fun games that would fit all ages. We came up with a handful for each group :adults and kids. I hope the pictures help explain all the fun that we had.

Brooklyn and Doug waiting for the party to begin!
Love that Stinker face she pulls when I get the camera out!

Part of the fun was also making dutch over dinner for the whole family. The main dish was something that Doug and I lived on while we worked at Bar-T-5 Ranch. It was the famous BBQ Chicken meal. It was way easy and feeds tons of people!

Grandpa Yearsley with little bug helping out with the dinner fixing.

She kept showing Grandpa her stinker face!
Doug said I needed to be in one of the photos of the reunion. So this is me showing you how many dutch ovens it takes to make the main dish for a family of 30 + people.

So one of the fun ideas I did for the reunion was from my favorite website: PINTEREST!!
I found a fun idea to make shirts for the grandchildren with their number. For example Brooklyn is the 15th Grandchild so she got a number 15 on her shirt. I also put each family in a certain color group too. So Doug's oldest Brother Mathew's children are all in Blue, Ben's children are in Yellow, Candace's children are in red and Doug's are in Green.
I got the idea from Pinterest to Bleach the shirts with the lettering on them and then peel the lettering off and you get a fun shirt. I found that you can't bleach yellow too well so I painted on them and also painted on the white shirts too.
Then we did a line up picture. The two oldest grandchildren held the two youngest grandchildren. There is all 17 grandchildren. There are really 18 because Candace is pregnant, but we didn't force her to be in the picture this time.

We had a bunch of camera's going while we seated the children. Brooklyn is at the end with little Addison.
This is one of my favorite photos. Little Declan was sitting near Brooklyn and he put his arm around her to make sure she didn't fall off the bench. She wasn't to keen on the idea and kept trying to pull his arm off. Still so adorable. Love this little guy!

Cousin love!

Then I also made shirts for all the siblings and sister & brother in laws too.
I put "Got a minute?" on the fronts of the shirts and then Brother #1, #2, #3, #4. Sister #1, #2, Mom and Dad on the backs of the shirts. The sister and Brother in laws had #1, #2, #3 on the backs of them too. Jon's girlfriend came too so we put "the new one" on the back of her shirt.

Getting ready to take a sibling photo.

This is what the back of the shirts looked like!
So one of the fun games we did for the kids was the Cheeto-Toss. This is were you put a shower cap on, put shaving cream on it and the partner has to toss as many Cheetos at their head in a minute.

The kids had a blast doing it. Then it got crazy and there began to be a shaving cream fit with the kids and the adults. oops!!
One of the adult games was Elephant March. You have to put tights on your head with a tennis ball at the end of them and try to knock over water bottles in less than a minute. Harder than it looks I am serious!!

Sad part about this is that since I was in charge of the games I didn't think to take much photos since I was trying to keep everything organized and moving smoothly. But some of the games we played for the kids were:
Johnny Appleseed: you have to stack 5 apples on top of each other in a minute. We even had some dads helping too. We could only get up to 4.
Cookie Face: You have to get a cookie from your forehead to your mouth with out using your hands.
Balloon Basket: You have to move balloons from one laundry basket to another with your partner but only use a water noodle to do it. The adults helped out on this too.
Cheetos Toss: Shower cap with shaving cream and the partner has to toss Cheetos at the shaving cream and see how many you can get in a minute.
The minute to win it games for the adults were:
Elephant March: you have tights on your head with a tennis ball at the end of it. You have to knock a row of water bottles down with the tennis ball in less than a minute.
Stack UM: you have to stack 5 nuts (hardware) on top of each other to make a tower by only using a skewer. Way hard to do. Janet got it done in half a minute and was the only one to make that time! She was fabulous at it!
Stack attack: 36 cups need to be stacked in a pyramid and then unstacked in a minute. ( we didn't get to this one.)
High as a Kite: you put a kite on the end of your hat and have to run around for and keep it up for a minute. (didn't get to this one either).
M&M suck: you have to move m&ms from one plate to another by only sucking them up with a straw. (didn't get to do this one either).
The last three didn't get done because the sprinklers came on and got most of us drenched. We all decided to head to Janet and Kim's house to set up tents and get ready for bed.
While we waited in between games the little ones played around.

Brooklyn and Keely hanging out in the laundry baskets!

Such cute little girls!

Keely trying to escape out of her jail cell.

All in all it was a fabulous time with the family. We had a lot of bonding time and laughter. I hope everyone had a blast! I know that our little family of three did. So until I blog again I hope all is great in your neck of the woods!
