Flood Irrigating

Hey you all so another one of my brother's adventures was helping me flood irrigate our lawn. So for all those who have not heard of flood irrigating, it is when we get water from the river channeled to us and we flood everything once a week. Yeah I know kinda silly... but it works so far. So lucky me I get to go sloshing around in yucky water for a good thirty minutes until all my lawn is covered. So I noticed the boys creating new fun things to do with the water. Check out some of their ideas.

Nathanael ankle deep in the back yard!

Mathew check out the depth of the water.....

Nathanael saving the fish....

So this last time Mathew and Nathanael found a bunch of live baby Rainbow trout in my yard. Yup I said live baby trout in my yard. Lately we just get the dead ones that float through the canal, but Nathanael made it his mission to save as many fish as possible. So the total head count of the fish was 8. So what do you do with 8 fish well the boys put them in my bath tub and decided to try to keep them alive. It worked until I needed to shower a day later and so we put them in a bowl and then went to town.... Sad part of the story... we will need to go fishing again cus there are no live ones at the house now. Sad I know. But this video will make you laugh and forget about the dead fish. The first time the boys helped me irrigate this is the outcome of it....

So I almost forgot to tell you Galena had a blast trying to catch the fish after we put them in the tub. She loves to chase things that move and these fish love to move.

That is some serious flood irrigating!!! You must have a pump. I don't know if you saw what we were doing with our pathetic flood irrigating (no pump) on my blog. And that only takes 1/2 an hour?? amazing! Does your family live close now?
